Dr. Joe (Jody) Griffin

Dr. Griffin was born and raised in Knoxville. Even as a young child, he knew that dentistry would be in his future!

Education

A product of Bearden High School, Dr. Griffin completed his undergraduate degree from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UT-Memphis, graduating with honors. He has subsequently received extensive specialized training in dentistry, including Implant fixture placement and advanced bone grafting procedures from the Midwest Implant Institute One-year externship program on implant placement Training at the Medical University of South Carolina in advanced soft-tissue and bone grafting Residency in conscious sedation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham; ACLS certification; oral and IV sedation certification from Tennessee State Board of Dentistry.

Family

Dr. Griffin has four children, Bay his oldest son, Addie and Asher the twins, and Isabella the princess of the family.

Interests and hobbies

A very active family, you may find the Griffins on the baseball field, at a cheerleading event, a dance competition, or just playing on the lake.  The Griffin’s are involved with their church and help support GO Ministries in the Dominican Republic.  Using dentistry or baseball as a way to love on the people in the DR has brought a lot of joy to the Griffins. With the addition of Izzie in 2014, the Griffins are now involved with the Down Syndrome Awareness Group hoping to help make Knoxville a great community of inclusion.

Professional Focus

IV Sedation, dental implants, pinhole surgical technique and soft-tissue and bone grafting are Dr. Griffin’s areas of focus at Cornerstone Dental Arts. Dr Griffin focuses on making implant therapy a pleasant experience for every patient. When not treating patients at Cornerstone, Dr.Griffin teaches other dentists implant dentistry as a faculty member of the Midwest Implant Institute and director of MII Tennessee.

Accolades

Every year, The Midwest Implant Institute selects and honors a doctor with the lifetime achievement award, The Midwest Implant Institute Honored Fellow Award. In 2022, Dr. Griffin was granted this award.
